Noida: In a horrific incident, the body of a pregnant woman, who was reported missing a few days ago, was found stuffed in a suitcase in Indirapuram along the NH-24. The woman’s husband, Shivam, who works as a salesperson at a garment showroom in a Noida mall, has been detained by the police after the victim’s father accused him of committing the murder. The victim’s father has stated that the suitcase that the woman was stuffed into was gifted to the couple at their marriage.
The police have stated that the limbs and the neck of the 23-year-old woman, five months pregnant, were twisted to fit the body into the canvas suitcase. The police suspect that she could have been strangled to death with the help of a towel, reports the Times of India. The police said they received an anonymous call at the control room on Tuesday evening about the suitcase. After opening the suitcase, they found the body inside and the woman seems to have been murdered around two to three days ago.
The woman had married Shivam last year in November after a few months of courtship. Sources told us that the couple had gotten married against the wishes of the man’s family. The woman’s father told the media that her in-laws had demanded Rs 5 lakh more as dowry and were unhappy with what he had given them during the wedding
Shivam, who had filed the missing complaint, has claimed that he has been framed. Police have detained Shivam and have also filed a case against his parents and two brothers under Sections 498A (cruelty), 304B (dowry death), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence), 316 (causing the death of the unborn child) of the IPC and Sections 3&4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.
The woman’s body has been sent for post-mortem. Mala taught at a private school in Ghaziabad before her marriage to Shivam. After getting married, she gave tuitions at home to augment the family income. The couple had been staying in a rented accommodation in Haibatpur.
