Mumbai: The main accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, Indrani Mukherjee, took violently ill on Friday and has been admitted to Mumbai’s JJ Hospital. Reports suggest that she suddenly fainted late Friday night and was rushed to the hospital and is now admitted to the hospital’s critical care unit. Reports suggest she fell ill was rushed to the emergency ward in a delirious condition, reports the Times of India. She was reportedly so ill that the jail officials could not revive her and then rushed her to the hospital.
Medical superintendent Dr. Sanjay Surase confirmed to TOI that she was brought to the hospital and that she is stable and is being evaluated. Mukerjea was admitted to the same hospital in 2015 as well, with suspected overdose and had to stay at the hospital for a week for treatment. At the time, there were conflicting reports regarding the cause for her ill-health.
She is said to be suffering from several ailments, including high blood pressures, as per the daily. In the past, it was reported that she had a few bouts of blackouts and had lost weight during her time in the prison.
Indrani Mukerjea is in prison for the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora. 24-year-old Sheena Bora was kidnapped and murdered allegedly by Indrani Mukerjea, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver Shyamvar Rai on April 24, 2012. Her body was disposed of at a secluded spot off the Pen-Khopoli road in Maharashtra’s Raigad.
In 2015, Rai was arrested by the police in a separate illegal arms case. However, during interrogation, he revealed the involvement of Indrani and her ex-husband in the murder case, which led to her eventual arrest. Mukerjea’s husband, Peter, who is a former media tycoon, initially expressed his shock at the whole saga but was later arrested as well for his alleged involvement in the case.
